Calendar Jan 4, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 15 weeks

Why knit alone when you can join others for a knitters’ night out! All skill levels are welcome, from those who know how to knit but would like to learn more or need help with a project, to experienced knitters who enjoy sharing, mentoring and socializing. Bring your project in-progress to work on. Thursdays, January 4th through the school year, 6-8 pm. Registration: $5 per month. Join anytime!

Poland's Trails

This course is an introduction to the hiking trail system that the town of Poland is creating for recreation in the great outdoors.  Topics will include a brief history of the Poland Trail Committee and its efforts, as well as descriptions of all of our trail systems.  We will also share information on the flora and fauna that can be see there.  We will talk about the contributions that local groups have made to the trail systems through volunteer work and also discuss opportunities for people to become involved in the on-going development of the trails.

Snowmobile Safety

Learn how to properly operate and maintain a snowmobile. Laws and responsibilities, map and compass, environmental/landowner ethics, personal safety, first aid and survival skills will also be covered. Exam and 100% attendance required. For ages 10 and up. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course.  Saturday, January 20th, 9am-4pm.  Registration:  $12

Substitute Teacher Training

Are you interested in becoming a Substitute Teacher for RSU 16?  This training is for anyone considering this opportunity, as well as for those already working as a Sub.  We will cover general procedures, classroom management expectations, tips & tricks, lesson plans, health and safety, and the application process. Tuesday, January 30, 8:30am – 11:30am. Free, but you must pre-register.  Participants who are later hired by RSU 16 will be eligible for compensation for this training!
